Noida's Sunehri Market

‘How much for this jacket?’ The young lady in yellow kurti aged about 25 years asked the vendor at the roadside of Noida’s sunehri market.‘Just Rs. 700 mam.’
‘What nonsense?Last week same I took in 200.’ The vendor replied,”Sorry mam! 350 is the last price.” The lady said,”I will not give more than 250.” “No mam 300 is the final offer.” “Okay! Take 280 and pack it.” “Alright mam.” He said.
Sunehri market is located at atta outside sector 18 metro station opposite of GIP mall. There are few custom seized goods shops which attract lots of customers. Here one could get items like jeans, shirts, shoes, woolen wear, belts etc. There is no scope for bargaining in these shops. The rates are fixed.
There are other shops along the road for footwears, clothes, dry fruits, book shops, juice corners and restaurants. The footpath connecting the metro station to sab mall has too much rush due to people standing at stalls of garments like lowers, ladies suits, undergarments, socks, sleepers, belts and other wears.People generally bargain for these items. The path is very narrow and the crowd usually big enough to block it.
There is mehandi stall which is a mode of attraction for most of the ladies.A few ladies could be seen putting mehandi on their palm sitting and blocking the footpath.
The other side ,i.e,the path going towards Vinayak hospital comprises of stalls having gadgets, watches, wallets, goggles and fast food corners. In the interior markets there are cheap restaurants, photo studios, jewellery and bangle shops.
Locals consider this place as mini chandni chowk as it’s cheap market of New Delhi’s suburb. Most people who visit  here are employees of different companies of IT sector, media houses, call centres, consultancies and students. So a large number of people from lower middle class are targeted by this market.

From morning to evening, this market remains crowded most of the time. There is a lot of competition among the vendors. So there is much bargaining on the roadside items. So for the people of Noida, sunehri market is good substitute for palika bazaar or gaffar market .

Brand Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi…..more than a personality,he is a symbol of non violence.Every 2nd of October, apart from his birthday, we also celebrate International day for Non-Violence.

So once in a year this man gets coverage in numerous newspapers, magazines and TV channels.Leaders from every political party make their presence at Rajghat to pay thier tributes to father of the nation.

This is an auspicious moment for Gandhi Dynasty to gain ground and shine.

Today,we have heap of people who criticize and abuse Gandhi. Its a suspense from where these people get lessons of such stuff as Gandhi possesses world wide optimized influence.Inspite of these, the name of Gandhi is sold.

Indeed, instead of an ideology,Gandhi has turned into a brand. There are roads constructed,school-colleges opened, business plans started  on his name.Gandhi’s name guarantees success. So his name is exploited everywhere.Though most of Gandhi’s ideals are disregarded in those places.

Gandhi is not present in currency notes and votes but brand ‘Gandhi’ is ubiquitous.

Politics fan the flame in daily life

Last Saturday i.e., 26-9-15 was a very dramatic day for me and my family, when the spectre of communal tension reached at our door steps..
In Ranchi, in an area where we formerly lived some one had thrown a piece of banned meat at a Kali temple early morning....now that we have shifted from there, but my dad still has to go through there to reach his office. Ranchi had caught high fever that day, which he was completely unaware of..... He still had no idea of the event even when he noticed the public transport having dried up and only few autos plying... Instead of waiting for one, he took an alternative way to reach office early where he had to considerably walk a bit to reach there.... Just when he was a few distance away, he noticed miscreants protesting. Curious to know what had happened, he got indulged in the crowd.
The matter seemed very serious to him , and he thought to be there for a little more time.. Unfortunately he somehow got into a scuffle...sustained only minor injuries, but his shirt got totally torn off.... I happened to call my mom that day at around 3:00 pm who informed me of the event... Frantically I called my dad back...and was relieved to know he was safe....
My dad told me that the CM Raghuvar Das (incidently or on purpose) was in Jamshedpur for four hours in first half that day...and the police remained inactive for as much time while the protesters were at large....
It was one experience that made me feel how it feels like when your near &dear ones get caught up in communal tensions....
Ranchi has a significant population of settlers who originally come from bihar...and commutation between Bihar and Jharkhand takes place in large numbers daily.... And the incident seems to be deliberately orchestrated to score brownie points keeping in mind the coming elections in Bihar...
I can't turn a blind eye to incidents like these...even when none of my dear ones are involved.. I have always had a hint of the design of some category of idiots who only have two purposes....firstly, create as much animosity between communities as possible & ....secondly, tarnish the reputation of some freedom fighters who emphatically stood for unity among communities primarily mahatma Gandhi and jawaharlal Nehru.

Hindi Aspires...

He  taught me at Hansraj in my final year of graduation. He passed out from Hindu. He had a lot of affection for his mother tongue(even mine) Hindi. He is Assistant Professor in Delhi University. He is Vineet Kumar. At that point of time I was a little embarrased for the literature of my language.Though I was pursuing B.A.(honours) in Hindi literature.
My argument was that whats the use of studying a form of language which plays no role in your conversation.Actually, the Hindi language taught in the universities of India is very different from the contemporary use of language. And he taught me how to use this language professionally. Its ironical that market uses hindi to persuade people in various ways but they don’t often involve hindi scholars.Whereas outsiders such as bollywood lyricists like Prasun Joshi and Neelesh Misra are in huge demand.Dr Irshad Kamil is an exception here.
Once in a interview to Loksabha or Rajyasabha channel,I don’t remember exactly,Vineet(he never asked me to treat him as a senior) said that till we don’t treat Hindi as a language of knowledge and research, beyond kavita, kahani, upanyas (poems, stories, novels),we can’t be judgemental for its well-being.And he tried it on his level. His website hunkaar  witness his work on hindi.
Today when I walk around the street in New Delhi,I hardly find the nameplates of shops written in hindi.Outskirts we may have some but our identity is hidden from the heart of capital city,i.e.,Connaught Place, which is a place of attraction for most of the foreigners.
Branding is essential for Hindi, which is only possible when the language is economically acceptable. The new Prime Minister of India seem to be conscious about the Hindi language.
There should not be any language battle.Every language should be respected.

This he taught me at college. You will regard any language if you have faith in your own language.

The beef ban

The beef ban
A herd of  bulls gathered in my colony disturbing the residents. They seemed to be very excited for something as if they were expressing-
“Hurray..we won the battle.Lets celebrate. We got it.Got the media attention. We managed to get into the Prime Time slots and Cover pages.”
One of them seemed to be quiet. He was the seniormost member. Chewing the grass flavoured chewing gum he said-
“Though beef ban issue made us popular, still we should remember that humans are shortminded. They will forget this after sometime…..may be in a couple of days or week or may be after the Bihar elections. And  our cows are very  shy.So we,the bulls only  have to make a difference.I have long time plans and publicity stunts.React accordingly. When we will leave, the place should get turn into a GOBAR Colony. This way we will make tomorrows headline.”
All the bulls nodded their heads as if they agreed.
After a few minutes I could smell the large heaps of holy gobar lying on the road from my second floor balcony.I know cows have religious significances. They could be spared but what about the bulls. They are considered to be vagabonds.Just thinking on these issues I saw the bulls leaving the colony sloganeering-
“WE WILL NEVER QUIT”.
